Rinko Aoi (played by Yui Natsuki) is a biologist who meets another biologist, Takashi Nanahara (played by Sei'ya Naito), while studying in London. The two, sharing similar interests, gradually grow closer. However, Rinko is deeply disappointed to discover that Takashi is a womanizer who has no qualms about his behavior, even attributing it to biological instinct. Angered, Rinko decides to break up with him. Upon returning to Japan, Rinko takes a job at a research institute and meets Kenichi Shiraishi (played by Masaya Kikuchida), a primary school teacher. As they spend time together, their hearts begin to draw closer. Just as their relationship is developing, Takashi also returns to Japan and becomes Rinko's colleague, which leaves Rinko feeling uneasy. Meanwhile, Rinko and Kenichi's relationship is not entirely smooth sailing. Rinko's passion for insects makes Kenichi feel neglected and frustrated.
