"The Crossing" is a collaborative development by Dan Dworkin, Jay Beattie, and Jason Reed. The story follows a group of refugees who, after their nation was destroyed by war, seek refuge in a small American town. However... the "nation" they refer to is actually the United States, and the war takes place 250 years in the future. The plot involves a local sheriff, Jude, with a troubled past, a federal agent named Emma, and a mother searching for her missing daughter among the refugees, who all become entangled in a surprising conspiracy. Sandrine Holt, as Emma Peralta, portrays a direct and no-nonsense federal customs agent who maintains a sharp awareness of her surroundings, enabling her to always keep chaos under control. Emma remains skeptical of the refugees and their stories of time travel. Steve Zahn plays Sheriff Jude, while Rick Gomez portrays Deputy Sheriff Nestor. Natalie Martinez stars as Reece, a refugee mother, but her role among the refugees is unique as she is involved in genetic engineering; Reece has come to the town to find her daughter Leah, who went missing during their journey to the past (played by Bailey Skodje). Jay Karnes plays Craig Lindauer, a shrewd and assertive deputy undersecretary at the Department of Homeland Security, who is also skeptical of the refugees' claims. Luc Roderique portrays Bryce, Emma's assistant. Georgina Haig plays Dr. Sophie Forbin, a virologist and key member of the government investigation team. Driven by curiosity and personal motives, Sophie conducts her research with the hope of uncovering the potential impact of this event on future science. Marcuis W. Harris plays Caleb, Kelley Missal portrays Hannah, and Rob Campbell stars as Paul, all of whom are among the refugees.
