BBC One has ordered a three-part new drama called "Gunpowder," inspired by a thriller story about Guy Fawkes that Kit Harington took an interest in last October. Yes, that's the same Guy Fawkes that the character V in the movie "V for Vendetta" emulates. In 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of Catholics buried 36 barrels of gunpowder under the Houses of Parliament in London, intending to assassinate King James I and restore Catholicism to power. However, the plot was exposed the night before the planned attack, and Guy Fawkes was arrested and eventually executed. To this day, the British celebrate Guy Fawkes Night (Bonfire Night) on November 5, the original date of the planned conspiracy. Kit Harington will produce the show and play Robert Catesby, the mastermind behind the assassination plot. Mark Gatiss will portray Robert Cecil, the Secretary of State and head of spies for King James. Peter Mullan will play Father Garnet, and Liv Tyler will play Anne Vaux, Catesby's cousin.
