Henry (played by Ioan Gruffudd) is the most renowned forensic pathologist in New York City, with his reputation being well-known among his peers. While everyone is aware of Henry's outstanding academic achievements, no one knows that Henry has actually been alive for 200 years. An accident has forever deprived him of the right to die, and the long years have left Henry feeling extremely weary, yearning for release. Henry works in the morgue, spending his days dealing with dead bodies, and his sole desire is to uncover the ultimate secret of death through his research on these cold corpses. Joe (played by Alana De La Garza) is a sharp and capable New York policewoman, and also Henry's partner. Joe's presence is Henry's only hope and source of enjoyment in this mundane world.
