Towards the end of the Sui Dynasty, Emperor Yang was indulgent and tyrannical, causing the righteous spirit of the world to dissipate, leading to rampant demonic forces and the suffering of the people, which enraged both heaven and earth. The celestial court then dispatched numerous celestial soldiers and generals to descend to the mortal realm to assist TaiyuanDefensive Li Yuan in eliminating demons and establishing the Tang Dynasty. The "National Treasure Pearl" was bestowed upon Li Yuan to subdue the demons. The Tang Dynasty thrived under the leadership of its rulers, from Emperor Gaozu to Emperor Taizong, enjoying decades of prosperity, allowing the people to live in peace and prosperity. As the years passed, the throne was eventually inherited by Emperor Gaozong (Li Zhi). At this time, a ambitious woman named Wu Meiniang (Wu Zetian) emerged in the mortal realm, along with the thousand-year-old serpent demon "Nanshan Lao Po" from the ranks of the demonic forces. However, the Tang Dynasty was protected by the "National Treasure Pearl," preventing Wu Zetian and Nanshan Lao Po from seizing control of the world. They could only attempt to eliminate the descendants of the Tang Dynasty while Nanshan Lao Po plotted to seize the "Dragon Pearl." At this time, the wife of Prince Wang Li Dan, Chen, gave birth to a son, whom they named Longji. To protect Longji's life, his mother placed him in a bamboo basket and let him drift down the river, where he was adopted by a widow who made her living as a fortune-teller, named Gao Dawang. The Jade Emperor saw the chaos in the mortal realm and learned that it was due to the "National Treasure Pearl" being obscured, allowing demons to wreak havoc. He then ordered the apprentice fairy "Bi Yao" (played by Wen Songxian) to descend to the mortal realm to cleanse the "Dragon Pearl." However, Bi Yao, in a moment of carelessness, was taken advantage of by Nanshan Lao Po, who attempted to seize the pearl. To protect the "Dragon Pearl," Bi Yao was absorbed into it but still managed to escape Nanshan Lao Po's grasp and fell into the celestial prison. Twenty years passed in the blink of an eye. Longji, now known as Gao Er (played by Chen Haomin), had grown up under the care of Gao Dawang and had become close friends with his adoptive brother Gao Lishi (played by Mai Changqing). Lishi met a wealthy young lady named Mu Rongxue (played by Yang Yi), and although he was infatuated with her, he lacked the courage to pursue her. He asked Longji to act on his behalf, but their efforts were in vain, and instead, Longji left a deep impression on Mu Rongxue. Over time, Longji also fell in love with Mu Rongxue. Meanwhile, Longji's mother, who had been imprisoned in the celestial prison, suddenly went berserk and escaped, searching for her son in the town where Longji lived. Lacking money and with a confused mind, she was bullied and fell ill on the side of the road. Longji, moved by compassion and a sense of justice, took her home for treatment. Grateful, his mother gave him the "Dragon Pearl" she had been hiding. From then on, Longji's life took a turn for the better.Upon arriving, he always wins when gambling. This was noticed by those in the gambling den, and Longji, in a moment of panic, swallowed the "Dragon Pearl." The Bingyao inside the "Dragon Pearl" was greatly alarmed, and eventually, Bingyao managed to escape and emerged from the "Dragon Pearl." Seeing that the "Dragon Pearl" was still inside Longji's body and could not be removed, Bingyao decided to stay by Longji's side. Her first hope was to retrieve the "Dragon Pearl," and secondly, she hoped to use Longji's strength to find the true Dragon Prince and restore the Tang Dynasty. Bingyao used her magical powers to send Longji on a quest to find his birth parents. However, each time, he failed at the last moment, and Gao Er (Gao Li Shi) remained unaware of who his true parents were. Bingyao, utilizing her divine powers, often conjured up various interesting and novel tools to tease Gao Li Shi (similar to the "Anywhere Door" and "TelepathySymbol" from Doraemon). Eventually, Gao Li Shi discovered that Bingyao was a deity and overheard her secret mission to find the true Dragon Emperor. Gao Da Niang had some magical abilities, so Gao Li Shi asked her to perform a ritual, using the light of a magical mirror to reflect onto himself, so that Bingyao would mistakenly believe he was the true destined emperor. Gao Li Shi was finally crowned as the crown prince, and his character changed drastically. He not only treated Longji and Gao Da Niang coldly but also forcibly married Mengmeng Xue. Longji helped Mengmeng Xue escape, but was exiled to the sea by Gao Li Shi. Fortunately, Bingyao rescued him in time, and a subtle affection developed between them. Mengmeng Xue, in order to save Longji, reluctantly agreed to Gao Li Shi's marriage proposal. The truth was finally revealed, and Longji returned to his identity as Crown Prince Li Longji. However, his mother had already been killed by the state master, who had falsely claimed an imperial edict. Longji was heartbroken but still spared Gao Li Shi, who was about to be executed, and the two reconciled. Bingyao was happy for Longji and visited the palace to see him. To her surprise, she discovered that the Empress Wu Zetian in the palace was not the real one but a fake impersonated by the state master, who was actually a powerful demon. The fake Wu Zetian used emotional manipulation to drive a wedge between Longji and Bingyao. Longji did not believe what Bingyao said and instead listened to the state master's words, entrusting Bingyao to a silver shuttle, believing it would send her back to heaven. Bingyao refused to hand over the Dragon Pearl and was beaten to dust by the state master. The silver shuttle broke, leaving the words, "Though I may vanish with the wind, I hope you will protect the Dragon Pearl." Longji seemed to have an epiphany. Bingyao was saved by the Lotus Fairy and temporarily transformed into a male form. Despite previous grievances, Bingyao still insisted that Longji learn the truth. On Longji's wedding day, Bingyao felt a profound sadness. To her surprise, she realized she had fallen in love with Longji. On the night of Longji and Mengmeng Xue's wedding, the male-form Bingyao secretly placed a copper coin in Longji's arms, awakening Mengmeng Xue from the state master's bewitching spell. Longji finally realized that Bingyao had not deceived him and felt full of remorse. During the decisive battle against the demon, Longji was severely injured, but Bingyao used her magical powers to save him. She told Mengmeng Xue not to reveal that she had come to help. Finally, Longji realized that the person who had always been helping him was Bi Yao. He chased her to the mountain, where the sun was shining brightly and the golden light filled the mountains. The two parted with a somber mood, and Bi Yao returned to the celestial court. Everyone discovered that the national master was a lizard demon who wanted to swallow the dragon pearl to become human. With their last hope, Longji and others went to the temple to steal a sword, but the demon discovered them. Ashu sacrificed herself to save Longji, and Bi Yao saw it from the celestial court and immediately came down to save him. On her deathbed, Ashu asked Bi Yao to take care of Longji, and Bi Yao agreed. The demon swallowed the dragon pearl, gaining immense power. Bi Yao entered the demon's body and used the dragon pearl to subdue the demon. Longji stabbed the demon with a sword in pain, and after a cloud of dust, Bi Yao and the demon both turned to ashes, scattering into countless particles of dust. The dragon pearl slowly fell to the ground, and Longji was in tears. Li Xian ascended the throne, and one day, Bi Yao appeared in a dream to Longji, giving him a jade bracelet. Longji did not understand its meaning, but he could not forget Bi Yao. In the year 712 AD, Li Longji ascended the throne and ushered in the prosperous era of Kaiyuan. More than ten years later, Gao Lishi selected a concubine for Li Longji. To his surprise, Longji found Yang Yuhuan's name on the list. He was overjoyed when Yang Yuhuan came to the palace, and she looked exactly like Bi Yao. The two embraced deeply, never wanting to part again.
