After being sent to New York for study by his mother (played by Mariko Kaga), Tsukushi Domyoji (played by Jun Matsumoto) suddenly loses contact after three months. This leaves Sakurako (played by Mao Inoue) anxious and desperate with longing. She decides to travel to America to find him. Upon their reunion, there is no joy or surprise, but instead, he coldly declares, "The game with you is over." Sakurako returns to Japan with a broken heart. Soon after, news arrives that Tsukushi is engaged to Shigeru Oikawa (played by Natsumi Katou). Shigeru is a cheerful and carefree young lady who unabashedly expresses her affection for Tsukushi and even treats Sakurako as a good friend, leaving Sakurako in a difficult situation. Despite this, Sakurako, unable to believe that Tsukushi no longer loves her, is encouraged by Seimon (played by Shouta Matsuda) and others to try to mend their relationship. Just then, Kazuki Hanazawa (played by Shun Oguri) suddenly confesses his feelings to her. Will Sakurako and Tsukushi's love eventually bear fruit, despite the many obstacles?
