Forty interns vying for three permanent positions at a prestigious hospital (essentially the hospital from "House") would create an intense, multi-round competition. If you were Dr. House, you'd probably make these rookies put on a reality show of their own, battling it out until the end. And after being constantly humiliated by House, they'd likely lose all sense of dignity. The Emmy-winning "House" Season 4 returns on September 25, and this season introduces a competition-like process to evaluate new candidates for the opportunity to work with House. They even assign numbers to the participants! (The legendary super doctor?) "You'll see typical House-style sarcasm and challenges. Unless you have the extraordinary mental, physical, and professional skills of a 'Survivor' character, it's unlikely anyone will catch House's eye," said executive producer David Shore. This season spends more than eight episodes on House's selection process (though it's unclear if there areReview segments), meaning he'll portray a tough and unyielding character. Actor Peter Jacobson, who starred in "The Starter Wife," plays a plastic surgeon at Park Avenue in this season, searching for new meaning in life. "But, while on that journey, he also looks for some hot girls. Hoho~" Jacobson added. Naturally, as a result of the competition, new characters appear in the show. Olivia Wilde, who starred in "The Black Donnellys," plays a character who gives House trouble. "Every week, someone gets eliminated, and everyone hopes to see Ryan Seacrest dramatically shout, 'If you support contestant number 13, please text 13, mobile users send to... AT&T... Sprint... Magic...'" (Who knows what numbers they use in the U.S.!) Producer Shore also revealed that another contestant is Kal Penn, who played a character in "24" who finds the competition "cool."Also, Edi Gathegi (who starred in "Lincoln Heights") will play a black Mormon in the show. Interestingly, the actors in real life also face intense competition to become part of the "House" team (a double entendre). Shore said, "We auditioned many actors, but we couldn't decide who was the best fit, so we decided to hold a casting competition. We think House would definitely agree with that decision." ------------------------------------------ "House," an innovative take on the medical drama, solves mysteries where the villain is a medical condition and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. As Season Four begins, House is without a team to help him tackle the perplexing medical cases he undertakes, and Cuddy and Wilson are insistent that he recruit new fellowship candidates. After 40 applicants applied for the newly vacant spots on his team, a group of five doctors—played by Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Peter Jacobson, Anne Dudek, and Edi Gathegi—have emerged as finalists vying for the coveted and hotly contested openings.
