In one corner of Jinan, there is a family of New Year painting artists. The family has a son named Pu Songling (played by Ma Junwei). Gifted from a young age, he excels in painting, calligraphy, and storytelling. Pu's father has great expectations for him. However, Pu Songling, misunderstanding his father's intentions, does not want to be controlled by his father and hopes to do what he truly wants to do. He becomes good friends with the town's constable Gao Zhe (played by Chan Kam-hung), and through their friendship, he learns about many strange and mysterious events in the town, broadening his horizons. One day, while Pu Songling and Gao Zhe are investigating a case together, they almost fall victim to a villain's plot, but they are saved by a woman named Xiao Cui (played by Fala Chen). It turns out that Xiao Cui is a fox spirit who has come to repay a debt of gratitude. She falls in love with Pu Songling at first sight, admiring his talent. Meanwhile, Pu Songling also meets a female worker named Liu Xinru (played by Chong Ka-hin) in his family's painting workshop. However, Xinru's presence at the Pu family has a purpose... One by one, tales of humans, ghosts, and fox spirits unfold.
