NBC's new drama "Rise" (formerly titled "Drama High"), developed by Jason Katims and Jeffrey Seller, is based on a book by Michael Sokolove, whose author was a student of pioneering high school theater teacher Lou Volpe. The series tells the story of a concerned and passionate teacher, Lou Volpe (played by Josh Radnor, the star of "How I Met Your Mother"), and a group of extraordinary students who form a drama troupe at a working-class high school in a Rust Belt town in Pennsylvania. They are determined to bring passion to the entire town.
