In the late 1970s, Yang Shihong, who grew up in the countryside, fell in love with Niu Wang from her village. However, their families later fell out over a dowry, and Niu Wang ended up marrying into a neighboring village. To spite him, Yang Shihong married Wang Chang'an. Initially, Shihong thought Wang Chang'an was weak-willed, but after some time, she gradually matured and was deeply moved by his refined demeanor and his dream of leaving the mountains. Later, Wang Chang'an died in a car accident, leaving the entire family to Shihong. To honor her husband and educate her children to succeed and leave the mountains, Shihong took on the responsibility alone, enduring hardships and difficulties. The family struggled on, and although there were opportunities for Shihong to leave the mountains and change her fate, she stayed for her family. Eventually, her youngest son sacrificed his life, and Shihong's only trip out of the mountains was to retrieve his ashes. Shihong's story of enduring joy and sorrow teaches us that staying behind is also a form of courage, and it is equally noble and great.
