The story unfolds in the picturesque region of Hokkaido, where a fire reduces a hotel to ashes. Thirty-year-old woman Seiko Kunita (played by Saiki Aoi) becomes a victim of the fire. After investigation by the police, various signs at the scene suggest that it was a suicide. As the truth unravels, Seiko's tragic past is revealed. Ichiro (played by Eiji Okuda) is Seiko's husband, but he had a romantic past with Seiko's mother, Ritsuko Fujishima (played by Yuumi Tagikawa). This past relationship has made the relationship between Seiko and Ritsuko very tense. Shohiro Sawaki (played by Seiyu Ozawa) is Seiko's lover, and he was the last person to see Seiko alive. An unexpected photograph plunges the entire case into further mystery. Doyuki is the detective in charge of investigating the case. Through his meticulous investigation, the truth of the incident gradually begins to surface.
