The vampire series "The Strain" was created by Guillermo del Toro, Carlton Cuse, and Chuck Hogan, and is adapted from the eponymous vampire trilogy of novels. The fourth season's plot unfolds nine months later, where a nuclear winter caused by a nuclear explosion obscures the sun, plunging the world into prolonged darkness and allowing the bloodthirsty vampires to control the world. The blood ancestors establish an authoritarian regime, creating an unreliable relationship between the blood ancestors and their followers and the fearful populace. Humans are now forced to work for the vampires, and those who refuse face death.
