The story begins in the turbulent year of 1949, when merchant Chen Xiaoyi (played by Chen Zhipeng) mortgaged the family heirloom jade seal, which his betrothed Li Jinnan had given him, to Jiudai (played by Hu Yue), to help his friend Ma Yunlu (played by Cao Li) with an urgent need. Little did he know that this act would lead to misunderstandings from the unknowing Li Jinnan, who, feeling disappointed and heartbroken, chose to leave. Li Jinnan's grandmother (played by Xie Fang), suffering from Alzheimer's disease, spent her days sitting under a locust tree gazing into the distance, as if waiting for something or someone. The person she was waiting for was the grandfather of Taiwanese girl He Yuwen. In 1949, the grandfather left the mainland and went to Taiwan, leaving the grandmother to embark on a lifetime of waiting. This decades-long love story, intertwined with the priceless jade seal, gave rise to a grand and legendary tale.
