This night is bizarre. On his first night of work at a mysterious convenience store, Aping, who considers himself a washed-up youth, first encounters a grumpy boss and a neurotic female colleague, then a black-clad police officer comes to borrow the restroom. An angry old man just out of jail improvises a robbery, and a rich man and his sexy companion randomly intrude. Everyone has their own stories and ulterior motives, and a grand farce unfolds in the convenience store. When a bomb-crazy criminal arrives, the outcome is unexpected yet inevitable. They are all mad, but it's the city that's sick and we can't see through it. Director Huohuo controls the pace and sharp dialogue with great accuracy, and the veteran actors deliver their performances, creating a rare Hong Kong film that is a dark, absurd, and intense cat-and-mouse game.
