The "Bidermann Comet" is hurtling towards Earth, threatening a fatal blow to humanity. Authorities take urgent action and devise an optimal plan: astronaut Tanner (played by Robert Duvall) will pilot the "Missa" spacecraft to the comet, place pre-prepared nuclear bombs on it, and detonate them to either shatter it into fragments or alter its trajectory. Tanner bravely completes the mission, only to discover that it did not yield the expected results. The comet breaks into two parts, a large and a small one, both closing in on Earth. Authorities swiftly take their final action, implementing the "Noah's Ark" plan to preserve some Earth species, including humans. This is a secret underground shelter where only a few can avoid the impending disaster, rebuilding the world once the catastrophe subsides. The smaller part of the comet has already collided with Earth, triggering earthquakes and a scene of world-ending devastation. The larger comet following behind will bring about a level of destruction far beyond people's imagination. Humanity, striving to avert the catastrophe, is now counting down its final moments.
