On Christmas Eve, the weather was unusually hot, and the entire city was filled with an inexplicable sense of unease. The power station, operating at full capacity, was fraught with danger, and the fire department was on high alert. The firefighters, each burdened with their own personal concerns, made this "hard battle" emotionally complex. He Yongsen (played by Andy Lau), You Bangchao (played by Louis Koo), and Ye Zhihui (played by Ronny Chieng) are three brothers who have been through life and death together for ten years, but now each harbors their own secrets: He Yongsen, highly regarded, was transferred out of the fire department, leaving him feeling bitter; Ye Zhihui, skilled at navigating social relationships, has risen the fastest; and You Bangchao, carefree by nature and unburdened by office politics, is struggling with a troubled marriage. The hidden betrayal between the three brothers further strains their relationship. Meanwhile, a super firefighter from the mainland, Haiyang (played by Hu Jun), arrives to join the Hong Kong fire department. As a "new recruit," he faces both overt and covert challenges from "veteran"General Pei (played by Simon Yam), who himself carries an unresolved personal issue. The crisis finally arrives when the power station explodes in a massive fire, plunging Hong Kong into unprecedented darkness. A group of people is trapped in the inferno, their lives hanging in the balance. Firefighters enter the pitch-black environment, battling deadly smoke, not only to save lives but also to navigate conflicts among their teammates and cope with the conflicting orders from higher-ups. Should they "trade one life for another, saving as many as possible" or "follow orders, prioritizing the bigger picture"? This fire is not just about rescue; it is also about redemption among brothers, dispelling the smoky illusions that cloud their minds.
