Ultimately, Ma Xuewu takes his own life under a series of blows. Baoli's friend Xiaojing (played by Zhao Qian) attributes all the misfortunes to the bad feng shui of the new house, calling it "Ten Thousand Arrows Piercing the Heart." The strong-willed Li Baoli refuses to give in and decides to hold the family together... The film "Ten Thousand Arrows Piercing the Heart" is adapted from the novel of the same name by famous Wuhan writer Fang Fang and was nominated for the main competition section at the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival.
