Detective Li Guoqiang (played by Louis Koo) shot dead the serial killer Chen Fulei, but was also wounded multiple times and his life was hanging by a thread. After recovering in the hospital for forty-nine days, he was discharged only to discover that his position had been transferred to the Miscellaneous Section, all because his testimony contained some supernatural phenomena that science cannot explain. Upon arriving at the Miscellaneous Section, Li Guoqiang meets Inspector Wong (played by Nicholas Tse), a middle-aged man who is slightly overweight and an alcoholic. Wong tells him that unlike other departments, the Miscellaneous Section is specifically responsible for handling so-called "supernatural events," but to survive here, one must firmly believe in the First Commandment: "There are no ghosts in this world!" However, ghosts do exist in this world. Over the past month, several bizarre suicides have caught Li Guoqiang's attention. Through investigation, he discovers that Chen Fulei's soul remains vengeful, and he can possess any person by touching them, then manipulate their bodies to do as he pleases. To subdue the murderer, Li SIR and Wong SIR join forces, launching an intense manhunt. However, at this very moment, Li Guoqiang begins to doubt whether Inspector Wong, who has been helping him all along, is a friend or a foe.
