Video information

In 1914, in the Devonshire town, Albert (Jeremy Irvine) witnessed the birth of the foal Joey. At the market, it was frequently bid on and eventually purchased by Albert's father Ted (Peter Mullan) for a hefty price of several guineas, which also earned him the enmity of the landlord. Albert played with Joey and shared it with his friends. However, the good times didn't last long. The landlord visited and demanded that if Joey couldn't plow the land, he would take it away immediately. Ted then put up all his belongings as a bet. Under pressure, Albert outfitted Joey with a harness and forced it to plow the land, even using a whip, but it refused to submit. To pay off the debt, Ted personally took to plowing the land. His hard work eventually paid off, bringing in a harvest, but a sudden downpour ruined everything. The German army arrived, and Ted was forced to sell the horse to the cavalry for several guineas. Although Albert found it hard to part with Joey, he had to shed tears and send it off to an uncertain battlefield. During the war, Joey's owner kept changing, from a British captain, a French farmer and his granddaughter, to a German cavalryman. However, what Joey truly awaited was Albert. Could they reunite?...
