Michael Douglas plays William Foster, an engineer at a defense plant who is fired and feels very depressed. Due to his divorce, his youngest daughter was not invited to her birthday, and he was stuck in traffic. He left his car and entered a convenience store to find some change to make a phone call, but was met with hostility. He picked up a baseball bat and smashed the store. While resting in the park, he got into a fight with a thug; in a fast-food restaurant, he had an argument with a waiter and pulled out the gun he had seized from the thug and started shooting wildly. At this point, he had completely lost control. Finally, facing the gun of a retired police officer, he couldn't help but ask himself, "Am I a bad person?"
