In a world where a ubiquitous zombie threat has endangered human life, Colonel Crockett leads a group of armed forces to retreat from the never-ending chaos in search of a sanctuary untouched by the zombies. Along the way, they encounter the exiled clan elder, Patrick Overlin, who informs them of a new haven on a remote fishing island. However, upon arriving on the island, they discover that the reality is far from what they were told. Soon, they are drawn into a long-standing feud between Overlin's family and their rivals, the Mootons. The truth gradually unfolds: Overlin was exiled from the island because he insisted on exterminating all the zombies, while the Mootons believed it was wrong to harm their already suffering relatives and attempted to care for the zombie-transformed family members, hoping they would recover one day. The zombie-infected individuals were locked in their homes, pretending to live normal lives. It soon becomes clear that this approach to maintaining stability is ineffective and will lead to even more violent consequences. A desperate battle will decide whether humans and zombies can coexist peacefully. Behind the scenes: The horror master George A. Romero's zombie horror film, *Island of the Dead*, was shot in the Ontario region of Canada. From the leaked stills, it is evident that the grotesque, bloodthirsty zombies are a continuation of the *Night of the Living Dead* series' legacy, suggesting that *Island of the Dead* will be one of Romero's signature works. Before the production of *Island of the Dead* began, Romero did not disclose any information about the film to the public. Many eager fans speculated that he was about to create a sequel to *Diary of the Dead*. Since *Diary of the Dead* had a low-key premiere with poor reviews and disappointing box office results, many were concerned about this sequel. However, as filming progressed, the production team confirmed that the new film, *Island of the Dead*, tells a completely new story and has no connection to *Diary of the Dead*. The plot of *Island of the Dead* is not overly complex, focusing primarily on horrifying scenes and a tense atmosphere. The film centers on a family living on a remote North American island who awaken their deceased relatives, only to be pursued by countless resurrected zombies. Unlike the previous film, *Land of the Dead*, which set its story several years after the zombies began attacking humans, *Island of the Dead* begins just a few days after the zombie outbreak. As the chaos intensifies and social order collapses, the story unfolds. The officer portrayed by Spran leads a detachment of armed forces in a retreat to find a new haven free of zombies. Meanwhile, on Plum Island in Delaware, two rival Irish families, the OFlynns and the Muldoons, are at odds over how to deal with their zombie relatives. The chieftain, Seamus Muldoon (Fitzpatrick), prevails with his proposal to confine the zombies and await a cure. The opposing chieftain, Patrick OFlynn (Welsh), who favors extermination, is exiled to the mainland, while his daughter, Janet (Monroe), remains on the island. After rescuing a young man (Bostick) familiar with gun tactics from a cinema, Van Spran's refugee force is deceived by the OFlynn's lies and forms an unstable alliance with them. Upon landing on the island, Spran realizes he has been tricked. The island not only has zombies, but they are being kept like livestock in sheds. At this moment, a showdown reminiscent of *Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars* unfolds, and Spran's force transforms into mercenaries, getting caught up in the family feud... This film is undoubtedly the quintessential CULT movie, with most of its budget spent on blood effects and extras. Of course, for long-time fans of George A. Romero, *Dead Island* is highly anticipated. George A. Romero is hailed as the father of modern zombie films, having pioneered decades of zombie and B-movie trends, with each of his works inspiring a legion of imitators. This time, *Dead Island* has been nominated for the Venice Film Festival, elevating the horror genre to a new level.
