Florence Foster Jenkins was an American soprano singer in the early 20th century, known for her poor singing skills but exceptional entertainment abilities, which earned her audience approval. Jenkins was very confident, comparing herself to the famous sopranos Frieda Hempel and Luisa Tetrazzini at the time, and she was unconcerned about the laughter from the audience during her performances. She had strict requirements for her performance venues, usually choosing the Ritz Carlton Ballroom in New York City. The audience for her concerts was limited to her loyal members and a few invited guests, and she even decided who could receive tickets. At the age of 76, Jenkins requested a public performance at Carnegie Hall, which people were eager to see, so the tickets sold out early. However, Florence Foster Jenkins passed away a month later.
