Tom, a retired police officer played by Samuel L. Jackson, runs a company that specializes in cleaning up crime scenes, primarily assisting the families of victims after a bloodbath. Although the work is dirty and tedious, he has learned valuable business lessons from it. He lives with his smart and obedient daughter, who is particularly dependent on him after the death of her mother. Whenever he stays out late, his daughter becomes anxious.
