Lao Pei (played by Wu Gang) has been guarding a deserted desert with his family for ten years to protect the gold mine he discovered. Over the past decade, a wealthy patron has repeatedly offered to buy the mine, but Lao Pei has refused to agree. In a fit of rage, the patron sends assassins to "deal with" Lao Pei. Meanwhile, news of Lao Pei and the gold mine spreads, attracting various groups to the desert. The "Real Estate Trio" - Xifeng (played by Ying Cai'er), Liu Tiao, and Ba Tong - are the first to cause trouble. They attempt to undermine the trust between Lao Pei and his wife Xiupo (played by Yue Xiuching) by using a mahjong game, but they are outsmarted by Lao Pei and kicked out. Director Dengge, along with his film crew, and Geology Doctor Zhang Qing, along with his frail girlfriend Yueyue, arrive one after the other. The two groups use a beauty ploy and professional geological knowledge to try to obtain concrete evidence of gold in Lao Pei's mine. Lao Pei, his wife, and their son Xiao Pei face numerous challenges as they strive to defend the gold mine for Lao Pei's dream.
