Simon, an orphan raised in a church orphanage, was given the name John the Baptist and subjected to strict punishment. However, he also developed the skill of breaking and entering. Many years later, Simon has become a renowned thief. He plans to retire after accumulating $50 million and enjoy life. Simon is tasked with traveling to Moscow to steal a chip from Ivan, a political leader and oil tycoon (played by Rade Serbedzija). This mission marks the beginning of Simon's entanglement with Ivan and his son. Simon accepts another mission for a hefty reward, and this time, the employer is Ivan and his son. They order Simon to steal nuclear technology that could solve the energy crisis. Simon disguises himself to get close to Dr. Emma (played by Elisabeth Shue), who possesses the nuclear technology. While developing feelings for Dr. Emma, Simon must deal with the challenging tasks assigned by Ivan and his son.
