Leaf Tadashi (played by Toma Ikuta), born into a noble family, is handsome and possesses an extraordinary demeanor. However, he appears to be filled with anxiety and unease regarding the people and events around him. Consequently, he often deliberately behaves clumsily and foolishly to deeply conceal himself. Among everyone, only his classmate Takehiko, a stranger at first, understands his thoughts, and the two become close friends through their shared passion for painting. While studying at the Tokyo Higher School, Tadashi accidentally meets Horiki Masao (played by Yūsuke Iseya) from the same art studio. Horiki is a carefree and unconventional individual. Horiki, like a serpent from the Garden of Eden, opens the door to hell for Tadashi. From then on, Tadashi, who has lost hope in life, becomes increasingly obsessed with alcohol, debauchery, and unredeemable decadence... This film is adapted from the eponymous original work by Japanese literary giant Osamu Dazai and serves as a commemorative piece marking the 100th anniversary of Dazai's birth.
