The skin painter, Chángmián, is the best painter in the Skin Painting Workshop. She has been bound and enslaved there since childhood, leading a bitter life. When she was young, during one of her escape attempts, she met the young general Shǒyáng. The warmth and care Shǒyáng showed her left an indelible impression on her. Shǒyáng pretended to surrender to the demon tribe in a great battle, waiting for the right moment to kill the Demon King. The Demon King ordered Chángmián to capture Shǒyáng's fiancée, Qiúsāng, as a hostage. After a series of events, Shǒyáng brought Chángmián back to the demon city, where she replaced Qiúsāng as his wife. She painted her skin to become the Demon King and went to see Shǒyáng, using her life to atone for her sins.
