The story follows the boy Paul, played by Matell, who lives in the countryside of New York with his father, leading a secluded life. Due to a rare congenital hypertrichosis, long hair grows in many places on his body, making it difficult for Paul to make friends. On his 13th birthday, he receives a mysterious gift and runs away from home to search for his mother, whom he has never known.
