Millicent (played by Tippi Hedren) is a wealthy young woman who accidentally meets lawyer Mitch (played by Rod Taylor) at a pet store, and they develop feelings for each other. The next day, Millicent visits Mitch in the town of Bodega Bay with her pair of pet parrots, only to be attacked by a seagull, sustaining injuries on the spot. However, no one could have anticipated that this bird attack was merely the prelude to a larger-scale assault by birds on humanity. Millicent stays in the town to recover, where she finds a peaceful life amidst the birds and blossoms. She also meets Mitch's family and his ex-girlfriend, and her feelings for Mitch grow stronger. However, the birds' interference in their lives gradually escalates. More and more birds gather, forming a dark, ominous mass, and the number of residents injured or even killed by their attacks increases, plunging the town into a state of panic due to the bird disaster. People are on the verge of collapse from fear, and how to quickly escape this terrifying place becomes an urgent problem for them.
