A middle-aged architect encounters a career bottleneck, feeling neglected by his wife at home and facing betrayal at work. Unemployed, he stumbles upon an elephant named PopAye in Bangkok, which reminds him of his joyful childhood. He impulsively buys the elephant but soon realizes that city life cannot accommodate them. They decide to head north together to return to their hometown. This road trip with the elephant is fraught with challenges, but thankfully, the versatile trunk leads them along, accompanied by the scenery along the way. Directed by Chen Chieh-Hua, the director of "When the Parents Are Away," and edited by Apichatpong Weerasethakul's go-to editor, this film features the talented female director Chen Jingyin, known for her dry humor, using the elephant's trunk to confront midlife crises. The desolate landscape of rural Thailand is transformed into a self-transformation song bathed in a soft neon glow.
