Video information
Liu Cheng (played by Derek Kok), who runs a pharmacy at home, sets out with a group of villagers to develop their business in the city. Just as the business is thriving, a mysterious fire takes the lives of all his brothers, leaving Liu Cheng destitute and behind bars. The real culprit is his assistant Peng Si (played by Alan Wong), who, for money, resorts to any means necessary. In prison, a police officer's relative had once been generously treated with medicine by Liu Cheng, so he invites a young lawyer, Lan Xiaqian (played by Coco Lee), to help Liu Cheng clear his name. Unfortunately, Peng Si uses money to grease the wheels and is determined to put Liu Cheng to death. Lan Xiaqian bribes the executioner, hoping to free Liu Cheng during the execution. Liu Cheng returns to his hometown, only to find that his ancestral home has been destroyed, and his wife and daughter are living a life that is barely human. Later, Liu Cheng is terrified by what has already happened to him.
