Jean-Claude Van Damme will star in the action thriller *The Bouncer*, directed by Julien Leclercq (*The Robbers*, *Commando*). The film, with a budget of $10 million, is said to be in the style of *Taken*. Van Damme will play Lukas, a 50-something nightclub bouncer struggling to raise his 8-year-old daughter. One day, he loses control during an argument with a client and is sent to prison, leaving his daughter in the care of social services. The situation changes when an Interpol agent recruits him to take out a Dutch crime boss in exchange for custody of his daughter. The screenplay is written by Jérémie Guez (*Yves Saint Laurent*), with production scheduled to begin in January.
