Little man Afeng (played by Hu Shufeng) sounds like he has a woman's name. He quit his enviable government job, left his girlfriend (played by He Lan), and came to Beijing alone to make his way in the world. Upon arriving in Beijing, the helpless Afeng was so broke that he couldn't even afford a bowl of spicy noodles. He was evicted by his landlord for failing to pay rent and had to sleep on the streets.
