In winter, an elderly woman (Jin Yaqin) living alone in a courtyard house is visited by a young girl (Gong Zhe) who has come to Beijing for school. The girl wants to rent the elderly woman's house, which is close to the school, but she finds the elderly woman's price too high. The elderly woman, with a determined expression, refuses to lower the price, and the girl, feeling helpless, rents the house anyway. Their landlord-tenant relationship begins with constant bickering and disagreements.
