"Beast Path" tells the story of Ai (played by Sali Itou), a girl born in a certain metropolis who is abandoned by her mother, who is superstitious about various religious groups. Ai spends seven years in an orphanage before being sent to a middle school, yet she is still not adopted. Ai eventually drops out of school and is temporarily taken in by a family of delinquent youth from the lower social strata and a middle-class family, but she never finds a permanent home. The only person who truly understands Ai is Ryohta (played by Kentaro Suga), a boy who likes her. Ryohta is also an orphan waiting to be adopted. Ultimately, Ryohta becomes a thief, while Ai falls into prostitution. Their innocence is devoured by the wild jungle-like city, making this a heart-wrenching black comedy.
