Ivan, a divorced Mexican dishwasher, dreams of one day becoming a restaurant chef. A night of flirtation at a bar leads to an attraction between him and Jeto, and their forbidden love cannot be hidden, ultimately costing Ivan the opportunity to spend time with his son. Feeling depressed and unfulfilled, he decides to embark on the illegal journey across the U.S.-Mexico border, a journey from which there is no return. His passionate love becomes an unattainable dream on the other end of the phone line.
