Beijing, a city that has long been an international metropolis, is home to the quirky young office worker Zhang Xiaowen (played by Chen Yihan). She yearns for a romantic and beautiful love, but the person destined to be her other half never seems to arrive. One day, she unexpectedly falls into the water. When Xiaowen surfaces, she finds herself dressed in ancient clothing, with a masked man beside her muttering an odd incantation. She is then pursued by a mysterious person, only to be rescued by a handsome man. Xiaowen initially believes this is just a bizarre dream, but upon waking up, she discovers that she has actually traveled back in time to the Qing Dynasty, becoming the elder sister of Ma'er Tai Ruoxi.
