Wen Yao (played by Tao Guo), at the age of forty, still lives in a rented apartment with his wife Xiao Yu (played by Xinyu Liu). He spends his days struggling to sell his book, *New Wedding Guide*, to make ends meet, living a rather pitiful life. One day, Wen Yao comes up with an idea to turn *New Wedding Guide* into a DVD, directing it himself. He recruits actress Mei Feng (played by Na Xie) for an audition, but to his surprise, Mei Feng leaks a clip from the audition online, taken out of context, which causes Wen Yao to become notorious for "unspoken rules." As a result, his film unexpectedly attracts investors. Just as Wen Yao is about to embark on his project with amateur actors Yan Zi (played by Chen Yao) and A Mao (played by Can Sen Li), trouble brews at home. Xiao Yu discovers Wen Yao's "unspoken rules" scandal, leading to a heated argument. On one hand, there's the penalty for breach of contract; on the other, the threat of divorce from his wife. Wen Yao finds himself in a difficult situation.
