Among them, the boss of the large car modification shop "D&S," Hiyami Kuroki, who drives a black FD, is undoubtedly the undisputed king. On this day, he once again beats Blaze, who drives an 180SX, and Ritsuki Daidoji, who drives a Z32. After the race, a young girl secretly takes a close-up photo of the black FD with a digital camera. Her name is Manami Sakurai. Her father, Tetsuji, was once a highly skilled car modification technician but lost his ability to work due to illness, and their family-run "Sakurai Auto Works" is now in dire straits. To revitalize the business, Manami goes out to collect current popular car parts, so she comes to take photos for reference. When Hiyami discovers that someone is taking photos, he sends hisunderling to chase her. At a critical moment, a man in his thirties saves Manami. His name is Satoru Akahoshi, who was once known as the fastest and unbeatable racer but stopped pursuing speed after losing a close friend in a race and began wandering. Satoru notices that the girl has dropped her digital camera and delivers it to "Sakurai Auto Works." Just then, there is a job, but Sakurai's father and daughter, along with their helper, cannot complete the task. Satoru can't help but step in and shows an astonishing ability in car modifications. Manami invites him to stay the night as a reward. The next day, Satoru discovers a white car in the garage. It is an old FC that Tetsuji once modified, with excellent performance. Satoru is moved and decides to stay and work at the car factory. With Satoru's help, the car factory's business thrives. Hiyami's father tries to lure Satoru away, but he is refused. Hiyami learns of Satoru's past from Ritsuki and challenges him to a race, but Satoru remains indifferent to his provocation. Hiyami sends people to disrupt Sakurai Auto Works and even burns down a car. Satoru feels that he has dragged the Sakurai family into trouble and becomes very dejected.
