Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt) was once a highly promising young star in Formula 1, but a tragic accident ended his career, leaving him as the poster child for "untimely misfortune." Thirty years later, Sonny is a struggling freelance race car driver. His former teammate, Ruben Santiagis (played by Javier Bardem), the owner of a financially struggling F1 team, unexpectedly approaches him. Ruben convinces Sonny to return to the F1 circuit, which not only becomes the last hope for saving his team but also the best opportunity for Sonny to prove to the world that he is still a top-tier driver. Sonny will join forces with the team's rising star, Joshua Pierce (played by Damson Idris), a young driver eager to write his own legend on the racetrack. However, as the engines roar to life, Sonny's past trauma resurfaces. He also realizes that in the world of F1, teammates can also be the strongest competitors, and the path to self-redemption is not one he can walk alone.
