Video information

The story takes place in a small riverside city in Hunan. Xiaojing (played by Yin Yaning), naturally stubborn and deaf-mute since childhood, grew up with her grandparents after her parents divorced. Years of inability to communicate normally with others have distorted her personality, making her increasingly unpredictable and pushing her towards the boundaries of ethics and morality. Xiaomei (played by Wu Bing), a wild and unrestrained bar singer, ran away from home after a heated argument with her mother and has not returned. The harsh realities of life leave this naive young girl feeling lost and uncertain about her future. She clings to a seemingly strong but fragile inner strength, struggling to find her way. She doesn't know where her warm home is. Police officer Zhang Haoyang (played by Li Qiang) feels that he was born at the wrong time. He has been widowed for many years and, after divorcing his ex-wife, has been eager to find another woman, but he has yet to meet someone suitable. He wants to have another son, even though he once had a deaf-mute daughter... This film won the "Firebird Award" for Best Film in the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival's New Talent Competition in 2012, as well as the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the 10th Vladivostok International Film Festival in 2012.
