Japanese monk Kūkai (played by Sōta Aoi), who had come from afar to lift a curse from the emperor, unexpectedly struck up a close bond with Bai Letian. The two resolved to investigate the truth behind the cases together. By following the diary left behind by Abe no Nakamaro (played by Kō Aki), who was once infatuated with Yang Guifei, Bai Letian and Kūkai witness the former glory of the Tang Dynasty and uncover a long-hidden conspiracy.
