During the Qing Dynasty, Zhu, a scholar who failed to become a top-ranking scholar-official after taking the imperial examination multiple times, became so frustrated that he drove his father to death and his wife away. Eventually, Zhu committed suicide by hanging himself in a temple. However, his soul was unable to reincarnate and instead became attached to the rope he used for his suicide. Fast forward to the 1980s, three Hong Kong high school girls—Lin Xiaohua (Li Lijian), Lin Qingqing (Luo Mingzhu), and Yan Ruyu (Lin Shanshan)—were on a summer trip when they encountered a storm. To seek shelter, they entered the temple where Zhu had committed suicide. After the storm, in a moment of panic, Lin Qingqing unknowingly took the rope with Zhu's soul attached into their room, causing a series of screams. However, as they began to communicate with Zhu, they gradually became close friends, sharing everything with him. Through their interactions and mutual encouragement, they gained clarity about their future paths. Of course, along the way, there were plenty of humorous moments.
