Over a thousand years ago, the Viking warrior Steinar (played by Charlie Bewley) and his fellow warriors Grim (played by Michael Jibson) and Hagen (played by Clive Standen) engaged in a fierce and perilous battle against invading Saxons. Not long after, the Viking king (played by James Cosmo) fell gravely ill. He had no intention of passing the throne to his son Steinar, who did not believe in the gods or prophecies but only in his own strength. He also made no plans for his other ambitious son, Harald (played by Finlay Robertson). The old king instructed Steinar to find his eldest son, Harald (played by Elliot Cowan), who had been exiled for a long time, and to crown him as the new king. Steinar accepted his father's command and set out on a perilous journey with Hagen, Grim, and his half-brother Vali (played by Theo Barklem-Biggs) to find his brother. Meanwhile, Harald secretly conspired with the Saxons, and the fate of the Vikings hung in the balance.
