The Galactic Empire builds a more powerful new "Death Star," attempting to completely eliminate the resistance forces. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) sends the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine to negotiate the exchange of the frozen Han Solo (Harrison Ford), but fails; later, with the help of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), the Wookiee Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), and Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), he finally succeeds in rescuing Han. At Master Yoda's place, Luke discovers more secrets about his origins and finally decides to accept the ultimate challenge of becoming a Jedi Knight. Luke returns to the resistance organization to participate in the attack on the "Death Star," and together with Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, they head to the forest-covered Endor to destroy the energy station of the "Death Star's" shield, while Lando Calrissian pilots the Millennium Falcon leading various forces in an air strike. Little did they know that as Luke's group just landed on Endor, they encountered the local tribe of Ewoks, and Princess Leia went missing... The film won the Special Achievement Award for Visual Effects at the 56th Academy Awards and was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Sound.
