A male caregiver, Suga Sōken, is arrested as a suspect in a murder case. Female prosecutor Ōto Hidemi discovers during her investigation that the elderly residents at Suga's caregiving center have an unusually high mortality rate, gradually uncovering the shocking truth behind the incident. This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by popular Japanese mystery writer Hana Manaka, directed by veteran director Maeda Tetsu (director of *The Relay of Love*), and starring Matsuyama Ken'ichi and Nagase Ayame. The film upholds the fine tradition of Japanese "social issue" cinema, presenting a suspenseful and enlightening story that unflinchingly exposes the greatest pain point in Japan's aging society. It also offers profound reflections on the eternal theme of life, a contemplation that is not far from our own reality.
