Video information
The film is based on true events. The story takes place on a small island called Bastøy in Norway, where many young offenders are imprisoned. The youngest among them is only 11 years old, while the oldest is 18. Every day, in this closed and oppressive environment, the children are forced to do excessive labor because only in this way can they obtain enough food to survive. Here, beating and scolding the inmates is a common occurrence, often for even the smallest mistakes, or sometimes without any reason at all. In such a terrible environment, the inmates are tamed, and no one thinks of resisting. Eirik (Benjamin Helstad) is a 17-year-old who has just arrived on this "Devil's Island," which is where he is serving his sentence. The harsh life on the island leaves Eirik feeling desperate. When the oppression of the guards crosses the critical point and leads to a tragedy, it is Eirik who leads his companions in a violent resistance. Just as Eirik seizes control of the island, a Norwegian government force of 150 soldiers is rapidly approaching.
