Lord Leopold (played by Hugh Jackman) is a destitute nobleman from the 19th century. At aMatchmaking banquet arranged by his family, he inadvertently stumbles into a time tunnel while tracking a mysterious stranger, the eccentric scientist Stuart, and ends up in the 21st century, 100 years later. Stuart's unexpected hospitalization leaves the Duke struggling to navigate the unfamiliar environment. By chance, he meets Stuart's ex-girlfriend Kate (played by Meg Ryan), a ambitious, independent, and intelligent powerhouse in the advertising industry. A series of events lead to the two being mutually attracted, composing a romantic love story that transcends time and space... However, the emotions of time travel are destined not to be smooth sailing. To conform to the course of history, the discharged Stuart has no choice but to send Leopold back to his own era, leaving their budding romance facing the crisis of separation across time and space.
