The film consists of three stories. Story one: Tang Dynasty. The people of Yao County are fond of wild game and harm living beings every day, killing and committing sins, which leads to the blood from the meat market seeping into the ground for years and attracting "evil beings" to settle there. These "evil beings" eat children and harm the neighbors, causing the entire county to live in fear. The mysterious visitor "Thirteen" appears again, appeases the public resentment, alleviates divine anger, uncovers the truth, and saves the people. Story three: Republican Era. A wealthy man, Mr. Yang, favors sons over daughters and excessively indulges his young son, which leads to jealousy from his daughter. To win the favor of her parents, she claims to be able to see ghosts, and this lie leads to more lies, eventually causing a major disaster. Rumors spread throughout the city.
