In a future world, the brilliant scientist Dr. Tenma (voiced by Nicolas Cage) creates the robot Astro Boy (voiced by Freddie Highmore) after losing his son, hoping to use him as a replacement to find solace. Although Astro Boy possesses the emotions and memories of Dr. Tenma's son, and advanced programming continues to refine his emotions, making him empathetic, Dr. Tenma is unable to overcome the pain of losing his son. He cannot treat Astro Boy correctly and dismisses him as not being human, abandoning him. Astro Boy becomes a homeless orphan and is hunted by the military, eventually being captured. The military demands that Dr. Tenma remove Astro Boy's energy source to use it as a power supply for their military robots. At the last moment, Dr. Tenma suddenly realizes his mistake and helps Astro Boy escape. Faced with the military's relentless pursuit, Astro Boy fights back, and a shocking battle is about to erupt. During his continuous journey, Astro Boy gradually matures, accepts his design as a combination of machine and human, and takes on the responsibility of the survival of all humanity.
